Buffalo Allies of Bozeman (see http://www.buffaloallies.org) has endorsed a rally 2PM on Sunday in Bozeman calling for a "Hate-Free Bozeone" in response to white supremacist activity in our community.

As a community organization, we believe it is extremely important for us to take a stand against those who would set an arbitrary line against people with a different skin color, a different religion, a different sexual orientation, or any of the other unjust fence lines that people have set up to keep people from feeling safe and welcome on our streets.

Therefore, we endorse the work of those in our community who have been organizing this march as well as those by anyone else who take a stand against hatred and a stand for embracing diversity. Indeed, the very mission of Buffalo Allies of Bozeman calls for a diversity of strategies and tactics, and so we are excited by all the diverse energy in its diverse forms in support of a diverse community.

Originally in North America tens of millions of wild buffalo roamed freely. Today the numbers are a few thousand. Why are the numbers so low? Why do Montana and the National Park Service continue to kill and haze wild buffalo? What have advocates been doing in the last year to stop this?

Join an informative discussion hosted by Buffalo Allies of Bozeman (BAB) at the Bozeman Public Library, Lg. Conference Room, Wednesday, July 29 from 6:30-8:00 PM. Speakers: Glenn Hockett, Volunteer President of the Gallatin Wildlife Association; Jim Macdonald, formerly a social activist in Washington, D.C, is a founding member of BAB having worked in or around Yellowstone since 1993; and Ellen Figura, a member of BAB, who is an author, artist, and who is enthusiastic about the outdoors and seeing nature live in harmony.

Pictures from volunteering on Horse Butte - April 19, 2009

Submitted by Jim Macdonald on Tue, 04/21/2009 - 01:16.

Jim Macdonald of Buffalo Allies of Bozeman volunteered with Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) on April 19. Stephany and Peter from BFC took Jim up Horse Butte, where he took a lot of pictures.

For all the pictures, follow this link.

Horse Butte is a peninsula in Hebgen Lake outside of Yellowstone National Park about seven miles NNW of West Yellowstone. Despite the fact that there are no cows on Horse Butte and support from a lot of property owners (including our friends in Horse Butte Neighbors of Buffalo), buffalo are not tolerated by the state of Montana on this peninsula after May 15. They are forced back into Yellowstone after that date.
