The event:

Bluegrass & Beyond Buffalo Benefit

On Saturday, April 11, at Bozeman’s Pour House – at 15 N. Rouse Ave. – several local bands are playing to support Yellowstone’s wild bison. Local bluegrass bands – Jawbone Railroad, The Bridger Creek Boys, and Thermal Grass – are joining other bands – country band 10 Foot Tall & 80 Proof, rock band Comstock Lode, and singer/songwriters Greg Keeler and Billy – in the “Bluegrass & Beyond” buffalo benefit.

“Bluegrass & Beyond” is being co-sponsored by Buffalo Field Campaign and Buffalo Allies of Bozeman, a local grassroots group. Buffalo Allies member Mark Genito describes his group’s involvement, “We want people to enjoy awesome music, but we especially want to educate our community on the problems the wild herds have had while also empowering them to help.” Last year, over 1,600 bison were killed by the National Park Service and the state of Montana, which is the largest slaughter of wild bison since the 19th century. While Buffalo Allies hopes to educate Bozeman about the buffalo situation and gain new members, all profits are going to Buffalo Field Campaign.

Doors open at 4 PM, and there is no cover charge, though donations are encouraged. For more information, see http://www.buffaloallies.org and http://www.buffalofieldcampaign.org.
